Gifts to Jaz 2023

Hello everyone!

Thank you for stopping by for my sister’s birthday this year.

Last year we all raised $1,190 towards ovarian cancer research. Again, I cannot express how thankful I am for everyone’s donations and for spreading awarenss!

These are some highlights in research done over the past year!

  1. Targeted treatment advances are being more tailored to treat an individual’s ovarian cancer differently at the patient to patient level. Link

  2. Immunothereapy agents are being used to block cancer proteins from marking T cells. This helps tumor-fighting T cells become aware of cancer cells since there will no longer be proteins preventing cancer cells from being attacked by T cells.* Link

  3. Statistical mortality rates by ovarian cancer are down 2.3% per year due to better therapy and more options for treatment! Link

Like last year, I am keeping up with tradition and donating again to ovarian cancer research and women’s cancer research.

Unlike last year, I am choosing not to ask for donations but instead asking for more shares— as awareness is as equally important.

If you wish to donate on your own, these are the places I have donated in the past years. Thank you for listening!

2022 Wrapped! by Paul Asyn

2022 Wrapped!

Well, that’s it everyone!

This year is Jazmine’s 31st Birthday and we celebrated with some of her favorite foods like kalbi short ribs, mashed potatoes and my Dad’s special asparagus—trust me it’s soooo good and way better than it sounds haha! We also managed to find a non-alcoholic version of a Japanese “Chu-Hai”, which was the ONLY alcohol my sister liked to drink haha. Lastly, we had Jazmine’s puppy, Kanji blow out some birthday candles for her. Another year celebrating her life!

This year we managed to raise $1,190 and I cannot express how grateful I am for everyone who donated, shared, or sent beautiful messages to my family wishing Jazmine a Happy Birthday.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in my sister’s donation drive towards ovarian cancer research and prevention. As you can see, I am still fine tuning everything given that this is only the second year. In the future, I hope to be more organized about which dates I will start and end the donation drive, so please bare with me!

And with that, we will see you all again next year!

Gifts to Jaz

Let’s make a difference in cancer research in memory of my dear sister, Jazmine.

Hello everyone!

Thank you for stopping by for my sister’s birthday this year.

Last year, we were able to raise over $4,500 for ovarian cancer research and women’s cancer research in general. In that time span, there has been quite a few new research advancements and treatment developments. Here are some ways donations like this has helped fund research last year.

  1. Purdue University developed a highlighting marker drug that can identify ovarian cancer lesions during surgery! Link

  2. The University of Washington released published new insights on how ovarian cancers resist certain chemotherapy drugs and which patients respond favorably to these drugs. Link

  3. Rice University bioengineers have shown they can eradicate advanced-stage ovarian and colorectal cancer in mice in as little as six days with a treatment that could be ready for human clinical trials later this year. Link

  4. Experts are pushing for more diversity in research studies and addressing the disparity in races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, varying physical, genetic and environmental factors and vulnerabilities that come into play with diseases. And overall helping treat and prevent disease better. Link

This year, I am keeping up with tradition and donating again to ovarian cancer research and women’s cancer research.

If you would like to include your donation with mine this year, you can send it to me via one of the apps on the about page.

Gifts to Jaz 2021 by Paul Asyn

Deuces! as Jaz would always say :)

Sorry everyone I’ve been super busy with school to check in but your response to my sister’s annual birthday donation post was super overwhelming! Thank you to everyone who donated! With your help, we’ve managed to raise $4,003 from 78 donors, for a total of $4,603—distributed evenly to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, and Foundation for Women’s Cancer! I cannot tell you how much this means to my family and I that you all have generously offered your gifts to help fund ovarian cancer research. I hope that with these funds, the organizations that I have chosen will make research accessible for even the smallest of a difference in any innovation when it comes to curing/preventing ovarian cancer. Whether you knew my sister or not, I’m sure she is grateful for all who donated and shared! #GiftsToJaz will see you next year!
